Common Error Messages - When installing applications, games and themes

Here I am going to discuss about most common error messages. What are the reason of these common error messages and also give brief description about their solutions.

Error Message: Certificate Error. Contact to the Application Providor

This error happens normally when you tried installing unsigned application. Note that signing is necessary latest Symbian mobiles. You can use self-signed certificate or obtain your certificate for your mobile cell to sign your unsigned application.

Error Message: Expired Certificate

This error occurs when the certificate of the file is expired. To solve this follow this post. How to fix Expired certificate.

Error Message: Install not possible! Restricted by the certificate

This message appears when you attempt to install developer certificate in the unsupported device. The developer certificate from Symbian Signed can only be used in a limited number of devices. In this case the best method is to remove the signature and re-sign with your mobile cell IMEI.

Error Message: Requested application access not granted

Check that your certificate can be used to sign all necessary resources for its implementation. For example, if you use self-signed certificate, you can only sign basic set capabilities, ie, network services, ReadUserData, WriteUserData, LocalService and UserEnvironment. If your application requires one of the extended features, such SwEvent, you can not sign it with self-signed certificate. In this case, request developer certificates from Symbian Signed.

Error Message: Unable to install a protected application from an untrusted

If you use self-signed certificate, make sure that your application uses unprotected UID, ie 0xA0000000 - 0xAFFFFFFF. If you use protected UID (0 × 20000000-0 × 2FFFFFFF) or legacy UID (0 × 10000000-0 × 1FFFFFFF), you receive this message.

Error Message: Unable to install

This message may appear when the installation file (. Sis /. Sisx) copies file to another private application folder, ie \ private \ uid. Note that Symbian 9 introduces the concept of data, that means you do not have access to another private application folder.
